Sanitation Standards for Chewing and Bubble Gum Bases as Food Raw Materials

Article 1
The Standards are prescribed in accordance with the provisions of Article 17 of the Act Governing Food Sanitation.
Article 2
A chewing or bubble gum base shall consist of one or more components listed in Annex table. The amount of usage of each component shall not exceed the amount needed for processing. Besides the materials listed in Annex table, chewing and bubble gum bases may also contain other food additives permitted to be used in chewing and bubble gum bases under the regulations set in the “Standards for Specification, Scope, Application and Limitation of Food Additives”.

Article 3
The maximum tolerance of metals:
1. Arsenic(As):Not exceed 3 ppm(as As).
2. Lead(Pb):Not exceed 3 ppm.
3. Metal:Not exceed 0.004﹪(as Pb).
Article 4
The tolerance of microorganisms shall meet the requirements set in the “Sanitation Standards for General Foods”.
Article 5
The Standards shall be implemented on the date of promulgation.
